Duvet vs Comforter

Duvet vs Comforter

There are mainly two types of bedding toppers; comforter and duvet.

The comforter is mostly filled with synthetic material which is stitched to keep it in place.

Pros

  • Not all but some comforters can be washed in the washing machine.
  • Good choice if you are shopping on a tight budget.

Cons

  • Difficult to match with other bedsheets and pillowcases as it is usually sold as a part of a set.
  • If you like to change your bedroom decoration frequently, a duvet may be a cheaper and more practical option.
  • If it is made of synthetic material, it makes you sweat.

Duvet

Duvet is originally made of bird feathers, sometimes filled with cotton or synthetic material.

Pros

  • If you want to see your bed neat and tidy, duvet with a duvet cover is a perfect solution. You only make one duvet instead of sheets and blankets one-by-one.
  • Very soft and fluffy due to natural feathers.
  • Very healthy and durable if made of natural material.
  • With a natural filling, it is more breathable and does not make you sweat
  • If you want to change your bedroom colors and decoration, changing your duvet covers is an easy and very effective way to do that.
  • Duvet covers are easy to wash frequently, no need to wash duvet. So you can save on time and dry-cleaning bills.

Cons

  • Does not always stay in place.
  • You should check the size of your new duvet cover if it matches your duvet.
  • A high-quality duvet can be expensive but it will last for a life long and when you match it with high quality, duvet cover sleeping will be luxury for you.
